The Woman Behind the Mask

Raised in the frostbitten outskirts of Vladivostok, Evelyn was taught early on that beauty exists in the most inhospitable of places. Her father, a Soviet engineer, encouraged her to view the world through a lens of levers and pulleys—"If you know which way to press, everything can be fixed," he said.
